The latest venture by Made in the Shade group, Bar Margaux is a late-night bar serving French classics in the heart of Melbourne. Following the ethos of its sister The Everleigh, the cocktails are expertly made. The beer list features local and international labels and the wine list has a heavy weighting towards French labels with some Australian and New Zealand names to round out the offering.
Take a seat at the bar or choose a table set out over classic black and white checkered flooring. Indulge in a main meal pre-theatre or stop in for dessert after an event. Margaux’s interior, like others under the Made in the Shade umbrella, has a distinct personality. Warm golden light spills in ambient pools from the walls, tables and ceiling, and the bold lines of the yellow backlit bar shelving adds a distinct art deco vibe to the French-inspired space. Mirrors, marble and dark timber adds luxury to the checkerboard flooring and white subway tiles, and lush red banquettes and upholstered bar stools echo the rustic red-brick behind the bar.
