Salt Air, Copper Glow, and the Perfect Coastal Escape
Some spaces have a feeling the moment you walk in. Cabana 88 is one of them. Tucked in the heart of Copacabana on Australia's Central Coast, less than 100 metres from the water’s edge, this beachside designer loft apartment was always destined to be something special.
The space itself is striking. High, exposed ceilings draw the eye upward through a thoughtfully curated open plan loft, where original artworks and a pebbled zen garden bedroom add to its uniqueness. An infrared sauna and an open fireplace also sit comfortably within the space, creating a home that feels collected rather than contrived. The design sits confidently at the intersection of retro warmth and industrial edge, a combination that calls for lighting with genuine personality, not just function. It needed lighting that could carry that character from ceiling to mirror to mood.
So Dugald turned to Fat Shack Vintage to find that personality. Bare pendant lights were selected to anchor the kitchen space, their forms echoing the industrial bones of the loft while adding warmth and visual weight to the open plan layout. In the bathroom, a copper wall light positioned above the mirror became the centrepiece of the room. Its rich, burnished finish catches the light and lends the space a boutique sense of intimacy that guests notice immediately.
The response from guests says it all. As Dugald shared, "We've had so many comments on our lighting from our guests!"
