Enjoy a slower pace of life at this historical country cottage.
Built in Edith, NSW in the 1890s, the once ramshackle Bimlow Cottage has been revived in a bright and fresh makeover that still retains the charm of its long history. The cottage’s location in the Blue Mountains region promises year-round beauty to be found right from the front gate, but for owner Georgie and her partner, it was the corrugated tin roof and wonky angles of the cottage itself that caught their imaginations.
Over time, Bimlow was lovingly and sympathetically renovated. A fresh coat of white paint inside and out, marble benchtops in the kitchen, new flooring, and enclosing the front porch brought the vision to life. Antique finds, op shop gems and a layering of rich and rustic textures brought the interiors together, combining the new and the old in a harmonious, authentic way.
The bathroom was the largest project of all, taking place during pandemic lockdowns. The finished product brims with vintage details in a way that is tasteful and charming, pairing painted brick and cream and terracotta checkerboard tiles with gauzy curtains and a clawfoot bathtub. The bathroom lighting matches the other brass fittings throughout the space, with Fat Shack Vintage’s Glass Ball Disc Wall Lamp illuminating the mirror over the sink. In the evening, the light’s ambient glow adds a romance to the space that feels entirely in keeping with the home’s history.
Wall lights are a great way to add ambience to your bathroom, like we see here at Bimlow Cottage. Check out our great selection to find something that suits your bathroom renovation here.
