If you are building or renovating an outdoor patio area, verandah or balcony, you will be sure to find an outdoor light that suits your need. All outdoor lighting needs to have an IP (Ingress Protection) rating that varies, depending on where your light is being placed. A qualified electrician will be able to tell you what IP rating is required for your lights for them to be safely installed in your desired location.
As a general guideline, the first number refers to dust or solids protection levels, whereas the second number refers to water protection levels; the higher the number, the greater the protection. Any light used outdoors should therefore have a minimum IPx2 / IPx3 as a starting point. Any selection should always be checked with the qualified electrician responsible for doing the install. Our outdoor lights come in a variety of styles to suit different uses and a range of materials such as copper, brass or metal just to name a few.
